Travel Awards

The ACC invites applications for travel awards for the ACC Annual Scientific Sessions and the Annual Legislative Conference in 2011.


ACCF/BMS Travel Awards

Description: Twenty applicants will be awarded travel expenses to attend ACC.12. Judging is based on the applicant's major involvement in research activities leading to presentations and publications during cardiovascular-related subspecialty training.

Eligibility:

  1. The applicant must be from training program in cardiology approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the AOA.
  2. The ACCF/BMS Travel Awards are generally intended for, but not restricted to, trainees beyond their first year in a cardiovascular-related subspecialty training program.
  3. There will be no more than one award presented to any single training program in a given year.
  4. Only one applicant from the training program may apply, and nominees may also be entrants in the Young Investigators Awards competition. However, if the nominee is named as a Young Investigators Awards finalist, he or she will be ineligible to receive an ACCF/BMS Travel Award. Previous travel award winners will not be considered.

The Award: Travel expenses to the ACC's Annual Scientific Session, not exceeding $1,250 will be reimbursed for the awardees coach airfare, accommodations and meals.

CCA Travel Awards for ACC.12

Description: Ten applicants will be awarded travel expenses to attend ACC.12. Travel awards are available to Cardiac Care members only.*

*Please note that only CCA members will be selected for this award. CCA members include registered nurses, clinical nurse specialists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and clinical pharmacists.

The Award: Each travel award will cover up to $1,250 per person in expenses and includes registration, transport and hotel. Awardees are reimbursed after the meeting and are required to submit the approved expense report template, which will be provided to all awardees. All relevant receipts should be submitted with the expense report.

Henry I. Russek Travel Awards for FITs and Medical Students

Description: The award honors Dr. Henry I. Russek, who served as director of the New York Cardiovascular Symposium, an ACC extramural program, for 25 years. The award provides funding for eight FIT members and five NYC medical students with an interest in cardiovascular medicine to attend this seminar held December 9 – 11, 2011 in New York City. Eligibility: All current ACC FIT members are eligible. No more than one award will be granted from any single training program. Medical Students from local New York City Medical Schools may also apply.

The Award: Eight FIT members of the ACC will receive reimbursement for travel expenses up to $1,250 each. FIT Awardees will also receive complementary registration to attend the New York Cardiovascular Symposium.

Five (5) NYC Medical Student will receive reimbursement for travel expenses up to $800 each. Medical Student awardees will also receive complementary registration to attend the New York Cardiovascular Symposium.
