Cardiology Training & Workforce Committee (CTWC)

Welcome Training Directors. This section is designed as a place for Training Directors to be informed of upcoming meetings, discuss current topics and address challenges with training programs.

The CTWC provides advice on all matters pertaining to fellowship training programs and training requirements, is responsible for planning programs as needed to promote networking, and education for adult cardiology training directors and fellows-in-training.  The CTWC advises the ACCF on how to increase participation of FIT members in the ACC.  With a focus on the workforce, the committee reviews available physician workforce data as it relates to cardiology and monitor and evaluate reports and commentaries relating to the cardiology workforce.  The CTWC advises the officers of the ACC with regard to future needs for the cardiology workforce.

ACC Virtual Mentoring Program

Please consider being a mentor! This program is an on-line forum designed to promote the professional growth of physicians in the field of cardiology. As cardiologists who have made valuable contributions as educators, researchers, clinicians and administrators, the mentors will have met many of the challenges that their younger colleagues will encounter.

This program is designed to link physicians who are considering careers in cardiology, (medical students and residents), fellows who are in cardiology training programs, and early career cardiologists with established cardiologists who are willing to share their knowledge and experience.

The goal is to match people with similar specialties or interests and for them to interact electronically using the site.

We hope this program will help physicians considering careers in cardiology to learn more about the broad range of options within the field, as well as identify potential role models. By interacting with other cardiologists, it is our hope that more physicians will choose a career in cardiology, and also that it will increase the visibility of cardiologists already in the field.
