There are now only two levels of membership: Fellowship and International Associate.

Election to Fellowship in the ACC is based on training, specialty certification, scientific and professional accomplishments and duration of active participation in a cardiovascular-related field.

 

International Associate membership is offered to those cardiovascular specialists who wish to access ACC's outstanding member benefits but have not yet met the criteria required for Fellowship.

Fellow (FACC)

Fellowship is one of the highest membership levels attainable in the College. Earning the right to include the FACC designation among your credentials lets your colleagues and patients know that you have been welcomed into one of the world's most highly regarded organizations of cardiovascular professionals.

 

As a Fellow you will have access to these outstanding benefits:

  • Complimentary online subscriptions to the ACC's suite of premier publications: Cardiology, the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging and JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions
  • Full access to CardioSource.org, the ACC's comprehensive online source of cardiovascular knowledge

  • Opportunities to serve on committees, task forces and councils and to hold leadership positions

Fellow (FACC) Requirements for Clinicians:

  • Have completed cardiovascular training
  • Be established and recognized in their communities
  • Demonstrate that 75% of current practice is related to cardiovascular medicine
  • Have a current medical license in the country where practicing
  • Present two letters of sponsorship

Additional requirements include one or more of the following:

Fellow (FACC) Requirements for Academic/Scientist

The candidate who is applying through the academic/science track shall devote at least 75% of professional activities to CV research and have made significant contributions to the scientific literature published in cardiovascular related peer reviewed journals. A candidate with a Ph.D. needs 20 articles with 10 as first or senior authorship published in cardiovascular peer reviewed journals. A candidate without a Ph.D. needs 50 articles with 20 first or senior authorship published in cardiovascular peer reviewed journals. NOTE: Please provide the name of the index where each publication is listed, or state "not indexed" if that is the case. In order for your application to be evaluated fairly, please organize your bibliography in the format explained in this link.

Fellow (FACC) Requirements for Other Cardiovascular Related Subspecialties

The candidate in other cardiovascular (CV) related subspecialties such as hypertension, CV pathology, CV radiology, CV anesthesiology, vascular surgery, vascular medicine, and nuclear cardiology shall have the required training; have 10 articles in major peer reviewed journals with 5 as first authorship; or has a leadership role as chief of cardiology or associate professor or professor. The candidate shall provide evidence from the community of recognition as specialist or as scientists. NOTE: For the publications requirement, please provide the name of the index where each publication is listed, or state "not indexed" if that is the case. In order for your application to be evaluated fairly, please organize your bibliography in the format explained in this link.

International Associate Membership

This membership is offered to those cardiovascular specialists who wish to access ACC's outstanding member benefits but who are not interested in applying for Fellowship or have not yet met the criteria required for Fellowship.

 

As an International Associate you will have access to the following benefits:

  • Access to Journals of the American College of Cardiology online content
    (option for hardcopy JACC): JACC, JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions, JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging
  • CardioSource.org: access to the premier online cardiovascular clinical resource, including the social networking International Group online community
  • International Center online and International E-Newsletter
  • Registration discounts for ACC Annual Scientific Session and Educational Programs
  • Reduced membership rates for Educational Products
  • Listing in the ACC Membership Directory for members and option to list in the "Find A Cardiologist" public directory

Criteria for International Associate Membership:

  • The candidate has completed medical professional education and training that is customary and recognized in the country
  • The candidate has relevant licensure or certification for medical practice in the country
  • The candidate has current membership in a recognized medical society in the country or provides one letter of sponsorship from any physician member of the ACC
    OR
  • Has academic or research standing and appointment at a recognized institution

CCA-International Membership

This membership is offered to nurses, physician assistants and clinical pharmacists looking to benefit from the ACC's outstanding education and networking benefits.

As a CCA-I member you will have access to the following benefits:

    Criteria for CCA-International Membership

    • The candidate has completed medical professional education and training that is customary and recognized in the country
    • The candidate has relevant licensure or certification for medical practice in the country and can provide a copy of said license/certificate
    • The candidate provides one sponsorship form signed by a current FACC, CCA, AACC or International Associate member of the ACC
