Spotlight Sessions:
The American College of Cardiology and HIMSS are hosting two special spotlight sessions on Sunday, March 25 during ACC.12 in Chicago.
The first session, Making the Electronic Health Record Meaningful and Useful - A Washington Perspective, takes place from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. in Room N227 at McCormick Place Convention Center. Farzad Mostashari, M.D., Sc.M., deputy national coordinator for programs and policy within the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for Health Information Technology at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will be the keynote speaker. He will talk about the ONC’s role in the Million Hearts Campaign and the latest in Meaningful Use, followed by a discussion with a reactionary panel of ACC Informatics Committee members.
Session 2, “Lessons from the Trenches," will take place from 2 - 3:30 p.m.in Room N227B. Panelists will provide practical advice on implementing health IT in private practice and in larger hospital systems. They will also provide first-hand accounts of their experiences with individual EHR systems. This session will also include time for Q&A.
ACC Expo Hall Activities:
ACC Central (Booth #10027) will be the site for several Health IT-related presentations on Saturday and Sunday.
