Statement of Need:
Achieving the best outcomes for patients with acute coronary syndromes requires staying current with the latest treatment guidelines from the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association, and identifying patients who face additional risk factors and may require more individualized regimens. In this activity, leading clinicians will offer practical recommendations based on the latest guidelines, while discussing treatment options for patients who may not respond to some antiplatelet therapies.
 
Target Audience:
The intended audience for this activity is cardiologists and other healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of patients with acute coronary syndrome.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
 Implement ACC/AHA guideline recommendations for the management of patients with acute coronary syndromes.
Describe the influence of genetic variations in enzymes or potential drug interactions involving antiplatelet responsiveness, degree of platelet inhibition, and protection from cardiovascular events.
Apply updated ACC/AHA guidelines on the assessment and management of antiplatelet therapy resistance in patients with ACS.
 Evaluate new options for pharmacogenetic and platelet function testing into clinical decision-making for patients with ACS.
