Maximize your time at the Board course by attending the corresponding optional Maintenance of Certification course offered in collaboration with ABIM and designed specifically for ABIM Recertification. In this course, attendees will interact with expert faculty and fellow participants to review 55 case-based ABIM questions. At the conclusion, participants may transfer answers electronically to ABIM to receive 20 knowledge points towards ABIM’s Self-evaluation of Medical Knowledge requirement for Maintenance of Certification.

LEARNER OBJECTIVES
The goal of this course is to prepare physicians for certification or recertification by enhancing competency in interventional cardiology.

Upon completion of this course, attendees should be able to —

  • Summarize key concepts of vascular biology and atherosclerosis and the fundamental concepts of cardiovascular physiology
  • Explain thrombosis pathways and the use of antithrombotic therapeutics, including antiplatelet, anticoagulant and thrombolytic agents
  • Discuss adult congenital heart disease and the application of interventional therapies in this setting, including imaging fundamentals and pharmacologic adjuncts useful in PCI
  • Interpret and critique the findings of major clinical trials and existing interventional devices and techniques in interventional cardiology
  • Summarize ACC/AHA/SCAI guidelines regarding the practice of interventional cardiology, particularly with respect to indications for catheterization and intervention
  • Identify gaps in knowledge and focus study efforts on filling those gaps

Tuition
The registration tuition includes continental breakfasts, refreshment breaks, lunches and course materials.

Cancellations
Cancellation, substitution or transfer to another course is allowed if written notification is received four weeks before a scheduled course. A full refund minus a $250 processing fee will be given for written notifications received fewer than four weeks before the first day of the course. No refund will be given for no-shows.

In the unlikely event that the course is canceled, the College will refund the registration tuition in full but is not responsible for any travel or hotel costs you may incur.

ACC reserves the right to cancel the course in the unlikely event of insufficient enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances. If a course is canceled or postponed, ACC will refund registration tuition but cannot be held responsible for other costs or expenses, including cancellation/change penalties assessed by airlines, travel agencies or hotels.

Physicians
The American College of Cardiology Foundation (ACCF) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The room rate is $209 plus 11.0 percent state and local taxes (subject to change) per night. The ACC room block is scheduled to be held until July 29, 2014, but may sell out prior to this date. The Ritz Carlton, Amelia Island Hotel is just 35 minutes away from the Jacksonville International Airport.

Below are some of the options available to book your ground transportation to and from the hotel. A variety of options are available from the airport to the hotel but attendees must secure their return transportation from the hotel to the airport 24 hours in advance of departure.

Candidates must be a FIT and meet the below requirements:

  • Eligible to sit for the board exam in 2014
  • Rank in the top 10% of their Fellowship program
  • Published a minimum of 2 articles
  • Actively involved in research – Please provide research involvement
  • Actively involved with ACC – Please provide details on involvement

Selection Criteria and Process:
The Course Directors will review all nominations and make final selections of scholarship recipients. All scholarship nominees will be notified of award status no later than June 30, 2014. All nominees not selected to receive a scholarship will receive a $50 discount off the early bird registration rate of course tuition.
