COURSE OVERVIEW/STATEMENT OF NEED
Noninvasive imaging methods of nuclear cardiology, with its physiologic information, and cardiac CT, with its high resolution anatomic information, are critical in providing early detection, risk stratification and guided management of care for coronary artery disease (CAD) patients which is a common cause of death and disability worldwide. It is essential that professionals who perform or request these studies become knowledgeable on how to cost-effectively identify and guide therapy for at-risk patients while identifying and optimally implementing the methods of reducing the radiation exposure which is associated with both tests. Recognizing the relative strengths and weaknesses of each modality and identifying which studies would be best according to Appropriate Use Criteria and Guidelines will assist clinicians in optimally ordering, performing, interpreting, reporting and acting upon the various imaging modalities.
Explore various imaging modalities and cutting-edge technologies at the 34th Annual Recent Advances in Clinical Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac CT: Featuring Case Review with the Experts! Attendees are encouraged to participate in this stimulating, two-and-a-half-day course which emphasizes the use of imaging modalities across the spectrum of patients routinely seen in a typical practice for the evaluation of known or suspected coronary disease as well as other cardiac disease states. An excellent teaching faculty composed of leading cardiac imaging clinicians and scientists will guide attendees in gaining practical experience in case interpretation, reporting and medical decision making by involving attendees in the ever-popular “case review with the experts”.
For the first time, each modality culminates with a new workshop format including “Face-off” Battle of the Experts: Challenging Unknown Cases as well as a Jeopardy session with audience participation!
Learner Objectives The overall goal of this course is to enhance participants’ competence by providing up-to-date developments in nuclear cardiology and cardiac CT and to facilitate this transfer of knowledge into their practice.
Upon completion of this course, attendees should be able to —
- Utilize the latest protocols for gated myocardial perfusion SPECT, including instrumentation, software and pharmacologic stress agents in order to reduce radiation exposure to the patient and recognize the components for reporting gated SPECT/PET to lead to more effective patient care
- Distinguish and identify the interactions between nuclear cardiology, cardiac CT and cardiac MRI in order to select the imaging modalities best suited to the needs of the patient and the individual physicians
- Utilize the latest information regarding the prognostic implications of nuclear cardiology studies in guiding patient management decisions and evaluate the feasibility of using various imaging technologies to enhance patient care
- Enhance clinical management decisions for the patient by creating optimal nuclear cardiology reporting that communicates the findings and clinical implications of the stress test and nuclear images and by improving skills in semi-quantitative image interpretation
- Utilize appropriate new criteria and apply evidence-based knowledge to become better equipped in recommending treatment options based on test results for patient selection, patient care management and reduction in the frequency of inappropriate testing for both nuclear cardiology and coronary CT angiography
- State the evidence supporting the applications of cardiac CT for prevention, diagnosis and guiding management, and more appropriately utilize cardiac CT according to Appropriate Use Criteria guidelines
- Describe the clinical implications of CT coronary angiography cases, recognize its value and limitations in clinical cardiology, and demonstrate improved skill in interpreting CT coronary angiography and coronary calcium scanning

GENERAL INFORMATION
Tuition The registration tuition includes continental breakfasts, refreshment breaks, lunches and course materials.
Cancellations Cancellation, substitution or transfer to another course is allowed if written notification is received four weeks before a scheduled course. A full refund minus a $250 processing fee will be given for written notifications received fewer than four weeks before the first day of the course. No refund will be given for no-shows.
In the unlikely event that the course is canceled, the College will refund the registration tuition in full but is not responsible for any travel or hotel costs you may incur.
ACCF reserves the right to cancel courses in the unlikely event of insufficient enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances.
